Looking for something fun to do with the family? Pack up the kids and head to San Elijo Lagoon Nature Center for nature-themed crafts and activities, including our TRACK Trail program. The whole family will enjoy exploring Nature Center exhibits, the surrounding grounds and loop trail. Plan ahead and enjoy a picnic on the upstairs observation deck! Sunday Family Funday is a free event in which a different aspect of nature is explored each month.
Family Fun Day Topic: Metamorphosis - The Butterfly Life Cycle
Step into the amazing world of the butterfly. From caterpillar to beautiful adult, learn how butterflies depend on their host plants to support the entire life cycle. Kids get to make a (FREE) butterfly craft to take home.
At the Nature Collective table, guests will learn about how butterflies and plants are intricately dependent on one another. They will discover some plants are either/or both hosts for larvae and food sources for adult butterflies/moths.
