Join ranger Alex from Santa Ysabel Open Space Preserve for morning miles at Volcan Mountain. On this hike, we will summit the peak and look over Anza Borrego Desert at the top. This is a challenging hike with a lot of climbing, but we will move at a moderate pace. The hike is approximately 5 miles round trip with 1,250 ft. of elevation gain. This hike may not be beginner-friendly. Dogs are welcome to join on leash. This hike is not accessible or appropriate for strollers or small children. Hikers can turn back early if needed.
We begin at 8 a.m. so we can try to beat the heat!
Roadside parking at Volcan staging area on Farmer Road is free. Carpooling is encouraged, but we should be able to accommodate everyone.
