"Tsikuri" (Eye of God in Wirarika indigenous language of Mexico) is a traditional and votive object made by weaving a design out of yarn upon two wooden sticks. They are commonly found in some native communities of northwest Mexico and throughout the southwest of the United States. In this workshop with artist Natalie Gonzalez, we will be exploring the vibrant and magical world of Huichol/Wirarika culture and creating our own Tsikuri, which will become part of an art installation in the Del Mar Library.
This program is geared for ages 8+, and no experience is required.
This program is made possible by the support of the Friends of the Del Mar Library and the Del Mar Foundation.
